In a bizarre crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the official statement, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine group.

The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Bonus Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an special katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe

Third Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
